Marching to the rhythm of a solo drum and the mantra “Water is Life,” dozens of demonstrators paraded down Philadelphia’s Broad Street in protest of the Dakota Access Pipeline. The 1,172 oil pipeline, stretching from North Dakota to Illinois, sparked controversy over fear of contaminating clean water supplies, disrupting the Standing Rock Indian Reservation and its ancient burial grounds.
